Walk through fields of wildflowers. Bluebonnets are the state flower of Texas, and during the springtime you can see them in full bloom. Find the bluish-purple flower and many others in areas such as Marble Falls and Lake Buchanan. People flock to this region to take pictures of their children sprawled in fields of flowers.
Take a sip of the Hill Country's best wine. The Texas Hill Country boasts several vineyards that offer tours and special tasting events. Watch how wine is made and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Shop for antiques. Texas is rich with history, and there are a ton of places to pick up some items with a little history. Places like Brenham and New Braunfels boast many charming stores.
Tube the tiver. If you're in the New Braunfels area during the summertime, rent a tube and float the river. Different companies, such as Rockin' R, rent tubes and provide rides to an official starting point to float the Comal or Guadalupe River. Rides are usually several hours, and your tube company provides shuttles to bring you back to their store at the end.
Hike and go rock climbing. Enchanted Rock, located in Fredericksburg, is a large limestone formation and a popular destination for climbers. Every skill level can enjoy visiting this landmark, as there are hiking trails, as well as classes offered on repelling. There are companies in the area that rent equipment. Camp near the Rock, or stay in nearby Fredericksburg, which boasts many shops, restaurants and bed and breakfast inns.
Visit the capital. Austin is an eclectic and beautiful city. If you have the time, spend a few days exploring the history and culture of the city, but if you're just passing through, essentials are visiting the Capitol building, driving around Lake Travis and eating barbecue at The Saltlick.
