How to Get Inexpensive Disney World Tickets

Walt Disney World is a perennial favorite vacation destination for travelers worldwide. Millions of people might find joy in "the happiest place on Earth," but many of them are brought down by the cost of a vacation in the parks. Every discount dollar counts when it comes to Disney World, and finding cheaper tickets is one way to save money. "Inexpensive" is a relative word when it comes to Disney prices, but even a savings of 5 percent or 10 percent can be significant when you are buying passes for an entire family.
  1. Military

    • If you or a member of your party are active duty or retired United States Military, you have one of the best Walt Disney World discounts available. Disney offers a different special for military each year, but every year includes deep discounts on multiple days and multiple parks. For example, in the 2012-2013 season, you may purchase a four-day Park Hopper ticket for $156. You may also buy tickets at the same price for friends and family members in your party, for a total of up to six tickets. Buy the tickets on your military base or at Shades of Green in Walt Disney World and you won't pay any tax on the purchase, which can be a significant savings in Orlando.

    Multiple Days

    • While a one-day ticket into one Disney park will cost close to $100 with tax included, adding multiple days to your ticket will reduce your per-day cost. Disney likes guests who stay for a long time, and the price per day drops significantly after the third day on any park ticket. The seventh or tenth day costs pocket change compared with the cost of the first two days. The individual prices change every year at Walt Disney World, but this policy remains the same.

    Children's Groups

    • If you'd like to reward a group of children for a job well done, or simply want to take 10 or more kids to Disney, it offers you a way to purchase cheaper discount tickets. Disney Youth Programs offers group leaders the Celebrations & Field Trips Disney Youth Discount for groups of 10 or more. In 2012, the tickets were $116 for a two-day basic pass, a savings of $60.

    Ordinary Citizens

    • Even if you are not a member of a special group, you still have the opportunity to save money on Disney World tickets. AAA insurance members receive discounts into the park, as do CAA members. Florida residents have a number of options, from one-day tickets to seasonal and yearly passes. Many major corporations offer discounted tickets to their employees through Tickets at Work, and companies that are major sponsors of Walt Disney World, such as Coca-Cola and Chevrolet, often have deeply discounted passes. Check your human resources department for availability and details about these tickets.
