The Most Popular Rides at Six Flags Over Texas

Six Flags Over Texas, which is part of the Six Flags Theme Parks franchise, is located in Arlington, Texas. It offers something for everyone young and old. There is a Looney Tunes rides section for smaller children and also gentler roller coasters for the moderate thrill seeker. The most popular rides found at Six Flags Over Texas are those that offer the maximum speeds, heights and screams.
  1. Titan

    • Introduced in 2001, the Titan roller coaster is the fastest and tallest of its kind in all of Texas. Its highest point is more than 25 stories (approximately 255 feet) above the ground. The fastest speed clocked for the Titan is 85 mph. It's currently tied with its sister roller coaster, Goliath (found at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California), for having the second longest track drop.

It's also the third largest coaster in the world. Some of the Titan's thrilling qualities are its 120-foot-long darkened tunnel, its 255-foot plunge drop at a 65-degree angle and its twisting, spiral curves. The total length of the ride is 5,312 feet and it lasts a mere three minutes and 30 seconds.

    Superman: Tower of Power

    • As the tallest free-fall-effect ride in the world, the Superman Tower of Power is reminiscent of some rides you may find at your local state fair. The difference is, the Six Flags version is about 200 feet taller and travels about 30 miles faster. The tower is around 325 feet tall (equivalent to 32 1/2 stories), and at its fastest speed, it travels up to 45 mph.

Passengers are strapped into seats facing away from the tower so you have views of the entire park and some parts of the city when you reach the ride's highest point. The Superman climbs quickly up the tower, and then drops you back down just as fast to give the effect of free falling.

    Mr. Freeze

    • Named after one of Batman's arch nemeses, the Mr. Freeze ride is another steel-type roller coaster. You'll ride aboard a shuttle-like car that launches quickly and loops along the winding track. Its top speed is 70 mph, and at its highest point, it reaches approximately 24 stories.

The total track length is 1,480 feet and reaches its maximum speed in less than four seconds. First introduced in 1998, Mr. Freeze is still one of the fastest and tallest roller coasters in the southwestern United States.

    Batman: The Ride

    • As the first of its kind, Batman The Ride was the first inverted type of roller coaster ever produced. It was brought to Six Flags Over Texas in 1999 and is still one of the top rides throughout the Six Flags franchise. Instead of the passenger cars sitting on top of the coaster track, the Batman's are connected above you. It gives more of an effect that you're flying as you soar along this thrill ride.

The Batman's top speed is about 50 mph and reaches heights of around 11 stories. The total track length is 2,700 feet, and you'll travel through a variety of Gotham City themed underground tunnels, eventually escaping through the Batcave to freedom. The Batman was originally created by the company Bollinger and Mabillard located in Monthey, Switzerland.
