Things to Do with Teens on a Bahamas Cruise

Just because you're on a cruise with your teens doesn't mean you need stay aboard the ship the whole time. Several cruise companies, such as Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Disney offer shore trips, which give you time to partake in activities while visiting in the Bahamas. Keep in mind that activities will vary depending on the cruise company with which you are vacationing.
  1. Scuba Diving

    • Try scuba diving with your teen.

Offer your teen an opportunity to scuba dive the coral reefs around the Bahamas' national capital, Nassau. The Bahamas Discover Scuba Program offers trained professionals to prepare you for your diving experience. Prior to diving into ocean waters, you'll practice in shallow water, paired with an instructor who will teach you the necessary skills of swimming around a coral reef.

    Swim with Dolphins

    • Dive with dolphins.

Experience what it's like to swim with bottlenose dolphins. Blue Lagoon Island is only a few miles away from Nassau and contains a dolphin habitat. As stated on Best on Bahamas, a swim with the dolphins begins with an orientation and information on dolphin training techniques and conservation of dolphins, followed by diving with dolphins.

    Horseback Riding

    • Experience horseback riding.

Located in Coral Harbour, Nassau, is the Windsor Equestrian Centre stables. You can ride a horse along the beach trails of the Bahamas. Before riding, you'll learn basic instructions on how to ride. There is a weight limit of 200 lbs. The stables won't allow horses to carry more than 25 percent of a horse's body weight.

    Stingray Snorkeling

    • Snorkel with rays.

Head to Blackbeard's Cay, just a few miles from Nassau, for a chance to swim with Southern Rays, which are flat, diamond-shaped stingrays. Female rays can grow to 6 feet in length, and males can grow to 2 feet. Depending on your preference, you can opt to snorkel the rays, feed them or even cradle the rays in your arms.
