Hotel Nevada and Gambling Hall has quite a past, which should make it a place of interest for history buffs staying in Ely. Despite the fact that the six-story hotel opened in the height of Prohibition in 1929, the management saw no reason their clientele shouldn't enjoy illicit alcohol and gambling 24 hours a day. Today, the hotel's casino is still a popular spot for tourists. The Gambling Hall offers live hold'em poker games, blackjack tables and more than 200 slot machines.

The White Pine Public Museum was created by the Ely Business and Professional Women's Club in 1959. Today, the museum celebrates Ely's history, which began with the Shoshone Indians long before mining brought explorers and prospectors to the town in search of gold, silver and lead in the 1860s. Museum visitors can expect to see numerous exhibits from the mining boom, as well as Shoshone artifacts such as ancient baskets. The museum also boasts a large collection of historic dolls.
