November Attractions in San Antonio

Although there a lot of things to do all year in San Antonio, November offers several unique opportunities for visitors and locals. These include a lighted holiday parade and caroling along the San Antonio River Walk, marathons and the opportunity to see professional athletes.
  1. Holiday River Parade

    • Held the Friday after Thanksgiving, the Ford Holiday River Parade kicks off the Christmas season on the San Antonio River Walk. When the switch is thrown, more than 122,000 lights cover the 2.5-mile public river. The parade lasts about an hour and includes floats, celebrities, bands and lavish costumes.

    Holiday Boat Caroling

    • Beginning the weekend after Thanksgiving and continuing through mid-December, carolers from church, business and choral groups cruise the river on boats singing songs of Christmas tidings.

    La Villita Holiday Open House and Gran Tamalada

    • The La Villita Historic Arts Village hosts a free open house and la gran tamalada, or tamale making. The event also features live music. This typically is held the last weekend in November.

    Rock 'n Roll Marathon Series

    Holiday in the Park

    • Beginning the last weekend in November and continuing through the first weekend in January, Six Flags Fiesta Texas hosts Holiday in the Park. The amusement park is transformed into a winter wonderland, and the Christmas story comes to life through a popular live show, "Majesty of Christmas." There is also other live entertainment, tens of thousands of holiday lights and a giant Christmas tree.

    San Antonio Spurs

    • Beginning each October and continuing throughout the season, the National Basketball Association's San Antonio Spurs are in action in the AT&T Center. As of 2010, the Spurs have won four national championships.
