San Francisco Attractions at Night

San Francisco is an interesting vacation spot with several destinations perfect for daytime exploring. However, some of the locations you visit during the day just aren't the same at night. You might not feel as safe at night and you won't get the same view of locations such as the Golden Gate Bridge. Pick a location perfect for nighttime to get the most from your experience.
  1. Coit Tower

    • Look down with a 360 degree view of the nighttime lights of San Francisco. You can get to Coit Tower by walking through the lively streets of North Beach up to Filbert Street. You go up a very steep hill but there are steps to help you along your way. In addition, you can get to the Coit Tower by bus or limousine. Admission for an adult was $4.50 in 2010. From the Coit Tower you can see all of San Francisco at night including the Bay Bridge, Lombard Street, Golden Gate Bridge and Transamerica building.

    Chinatown

    • Go to the Chinatown district of San Francisco to grab a bite to eat and to see Chinese lanterns glowing. Chinatown is an important historical location because Chinese have been immigrating to California since 1848. You can get to Chinatown by going to the intersection of Bush Street and Grant Avenue. You should see Dragon's Gate, the entrance to China Town. An interesting time to visit at night would be during the Chinese New Year, when people set off fireworks. In addition, try some authentic tasting Chinese food at local Chinese restaurants. Come back during the day to see the inside of temples.

    North Beach Restaurant

    • North Beach is one of the liveliest areas of San Francisco, and it is a perfect location to wander about at night. Look through the streets until you are hungry and decide to get a meal. North Beach Restaurant serves Italian cuisine that is highly recommended by the CEO of Graffeo Coffee, Tony Tantillo from CBS, the San Francisco Chronicle and the San Francisco Examiner. The restaurant has a Tuscan style atmosphere to accompany the meal. After eating visit the Prosciutto Room, Wine Cellar and Cigar Room.
