Live Oak Brewing Company is a locally owned and operated brewery in Austin. Owners Chip McElroy and Brian Peters got their start in the craft-beer industry as local home brewers and eventually founded Live Oak Brewing Company in 1997. Live Oak provides Austin and major cities throughout the state with old-world style craft beer. Currently, Live Oak's beers are available only on draught in restaurants, pubs and bars throughout Texas. Live Oak produces four year-round beers and four seasonal beers. Tours of the brewery are available on Saturdays beginning at noon. A picture ID is required to taste the beers, and reservations are recommended at least 24 hours in advance. Independence Brewing Co. is located in southeast Austin and is operated by its founders, Rob and Amy Cartwright. Independence began brewing easy-drinking beers in 2004. Currently their beers are offered in a variety of restaurants, pubs, bars, grocery and specialty stores throughout the Austin-San Antonio area. Independence Brewing Co. offers four year-round beers and a variety of seasonal and special-release beers including Jasparilla Old Ale, which is brewed once each year and aged for six months prior to release. Independence offers a 1st Saturday Brewery Tour and Beer Tasting each month. The event includes a complimentary beer tasting and guided tours that begin at 1:15 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Real Ale Brewing Company is located in the Texas Hill Country, approximately one hour from Austin. Real Ale began brewing beer in 1996 in a small basement in Blanco. The brewery continues to operate in Blanco, utilizing waters from the Blanco River to brew its popular craft beers. Real Ale offers five year-round beers and numerous seasonal and special-release beers. Real Ale's beers are available in bottles and on draught at restaurants, bars and stores throughout the Texas Hill Country, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. The brewery's tasting room is open 2-5 p.m. Fridays. Tours of the brewery are available on Friday's beginning at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
