One of the most fun and inexpensive things to do in the whole Orlando area is Old Town and Fun Spot in Kissimmee. Old Town has shopping, amusement park rides, go-karts, restaurants and cruise nights that are a real blast from the past with cars and cycles galore. There are free Rock n Roll concerts on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights. On Sunday, it's Latin music on the main stage, with authentic Spanish food and more. Parking is free.
There is so much to do in Downtown Disney you should plan to spend an entire day there. It is so much more than just a shopping center. The Lego Store allows kids (and adults) to build and play with Legos at an outside play park. You can even race a Lego car you build. Then spend some time in the world's largest Disney Store. Have kids wear their swimsuits to enjoy the several splash areas around Downtown Disney. They are great fun for the kids and a relaxing break for adults. You can ride the boat across the lake for free. Then check out T-Rex, the dinosaur restaurant, and Rainforest Cafe. If you don't mind spending a little money, DisneyQuest is the ultimate in virtual gaming with five floors of Disney magic.
International Drive is a long strip just brimming with fun attractions. You can be amazed and have fun at WonderWorks, Orlando's three-story upside down building filled with interactive entertainment. Or eat lunch and play games at the world's largest McDonald's. Pirate's Cove Miniature Golf is a fun way to spend the late afternoon followed by a visit to Twistee Treat for a cold ice cream.
Another place to spend a day and have affordable fun is Festival Bay Mall, on International Drive. Besides a world of great shopping, Festival Bay Mall has a kiddie playland, Monkey Joe's where kids can bounce for hours, Van's Skate Park for premier skateboarding, Ron Jon Surf Shop, Fantasy Arcade, Putting Edge Fun Center where you play mini-golf in the dark, and a 20-screen theater.
