Things to Do in Acapulco Mexico

Planning a vacation is almost as much fun as experiencing it, when traveling to a place like Acapulco. There are so many different activities that it is impossible to do it all in one short trip.

Pick a few from each category to taste and go from there.
  1. Historical and Cultural

    • Mexico is full of historical sites. Several tours take people to the Flamingo Hotel, the Fort of San Diego museum, and the Chapel of Peace in Las Brisas.

Day tours to nearby towns, like Taxco (known for its silver jewelry) are available, too.

Though not strictly cultural, the nighttime cliff diving show is entertaining to watch. La Perla restaurant serves dinner while young men bearing torches dive off the cliff into the darkness.

    Nature Lovers

    • For those who want to relax in nature, try visiting the freshwater Coyuca Lagoon (where the old Bogart movie "The Africa Queen" was filmed). Those who buy the tour will get a boat ride and lunch. Plant lovers will enjoy the botanical garden in the Sierra de la Madre mountains is also worth checking out.

For animal lovers, the Magico Mundo Marino (Magic Marine World) is a theme park for sea life, with an aquarium and shows. Bring bathing suits; the park has freshwater and seawater pools and water slides too.

    Active Outdoors

    • Anything and everything to do with water sports is available in Acapulco. Besides relaxing at the beach, snorkeling, scuba diving, jet skiing and deep sea fishing are all options.

Slightly inland, try the rafting tours on the Papagayo River at Bravo Town. They also offer rock climbing and kayaking. Booking these tours as a package and in advance is usually less expensive than doing it there.

    Nightlife

    • There's a reason that clubbing is popular here. One price (around $20 to $35, depending on gender) includes all you can drink at most clubs. Try one of the many open-air bars near the beaches if dancing isn't appealing,.
