Stop at Coney Island first, even though it is the last stop in Brooklyn. Stop by Coney Island and treat yourself to an original Nathan's hot dog, made Brooklyn-style. Stroll the boardwalk and play games, eat a funnel cake or people-watch as you sip on a drink at a waterside bar. Pick up a few souvenirs before heading over to the New York Aquarium.
Visit Prospect Park year-round. Take a long walk, run in the summer or go ice skating at the Wollman rink in the winter. Visit prospectpark.org when planning your tour of Brooklyn. Prospect Park is kid-friendly and educates kids about animals and plants at the Audubon Center.
Stop next at Dekalb Avenue. You can't forget Junior's Restaurant. Just minutes away from downtown Manhattan, Junior's on Flatbush Avenue is a staple in the Brooklyn community. Try a slice of plain, strawberry or carrot cake cheesecake.
Stop in Manhattan at Canal Street. Jump off the train and visit Chinatown and Little Italy. Pick up inexpensive souvenirs like T-shirts and key chains. Try a Chinese drink, meal or dessert you have never had before. Walk over to Little Italy and indulge even more.
Hop back on the train and head up to the legendary 34th Street. Thirty-fourth Street is one of New York's most famous streets. Visit Macy's, Pennsylvania Station, Madison Square Garden and shop till you drop.
Spend a few hours in Times Square. The Q-train drops you off in the middle of the busiest part of New York City. Enjoy the lights, tall buildings, museums and a Broadway play. Spend a few more bucks and have a street vendor create a self-portrait, before heading to the last stop, 57th Street.
Get off at 57th Street and walk over to Columbus Circle and visit Time Warner Center. Once you're done, walk over to Central Park. Take a horse carriage ride through the park. Visit the Central Park Zoo and Conservatory.
