How to Visit the Capital Building

The U.S. Capitol Building houses the House of Representatives and the Senate, the two legislative bodies of the federal government. The architecture of the Capitol Building is significant, as is the collection of American art housed there. Tourists start their visit at the underground 580,000-square-foot Capitol Visitor Center, where they can learn about Congress and the building's construction through films and exhibits.
