What Happens During the Fall in Hawaii?

Hawaii is a beautiful destination to visit year-round, with clear warm waters, fragrant pink and red blossoms, and balmy temperatures. But, one season in Hawaii that can be the best of them all. Fall holds a variety of reasons to make visiting Hawaii an even more amazing treat.
  1. Fewer Visitors

    • Hawaii sees millions of visitors come to its shores every year, especially in the summer. In the fall, with children back in school, the beaches are less crowded, and so are the many attractions. And fewer visitors means the prices for hotels and flights are less expensive, making for a pleasant, economical and relaxing vacation.

    Balmy Temperatures

    • People come to Hawaii for the warm breezes and bright sun. Temperatures in Hawaii average 86 degrees during the day in the summer, with high humidity. In the fall the temperatures average 76 degrees in the daytime, and 67 degrees at night, with less humidity. The ocean waters remain in the 75-degree range, perfect for water sports and outdoor activities.

    Whale Migration

    • Whale watching season in Hawaii comes in the fall. Humpback whales migrate to Hawaii from Alaska to mate, give birth and watch over their children. They first arrive in late October with the largest concentration of whales around the island of Maui, but they can be see at the other islands as well. The peak whale watching time is from November to early May, when the whales will then begin their trek back to Alaska.

    Fragrant Flowers

    • Flowers bloom year-round in Hawaii, but the bright pop of orange and pink blooms, along with the sweet scents from plumeria trees and gardenia bushes, seems to float and linger in the air during the fall, adding to the natural beauty that is Hawaii.
