How old is the Romanian language?
The earliest written records of the Romanian language date from the 16th century. There are a few short texts that were written in the Romanian language in the Glagolitic and Cyrillic scripts. These texts are known as the "Romanian Codices" and they are considered to be the first written evidence of the Romanian language. It is believed that the Romanian language originated from Vulgar Latin, the spoken language of the Roman Empire. The Romanian language has also been influenced by other languages, such as Slavic, Hungarian, and Turkish.
