How is pronounced in Italian?

In Italian, the letter H is silent. When it comes before another consonant, it will change the sound of the following letter.

H before C produces the sharp CH sound, as in chiesa (KEYE-sah), or church.

H before G produces the sharp GH sound, as in Gheppetto (Geh-PET-toh), the name of the woodcarver in Pinocchio.

H before I sounds like Y, as in Hieri (YAIR-ee), or yesterday.
