The Cavanaugh Flight Museum contains aircraft from as far back as World War I. The museum was established in 1993. For your photographing pleasure, it houses a museum of aviation history, and also plays host to many air shows. If you're feeling extra gutsy, you can bring your camera along for a ride in any number of airplanes, including old planes with an open cockpit and more modern jets.
For those who enjoy photographing nature, visit Addison Circle Park. All told, Addison Circle Park occupies 372,000 square feet. It has both indoor and outdoor structures that meet the Addison community's needs for public or private events. Bring your camera along on a nature walk trail or through one of Circle Park's recreation fields. You'll also have the opportunity to photograph the park's water garden or several "interactive" fountains.
Addison's Water Tower Theatre is not only a place to enjoy plays, it also provides you with the opportunity to get some great photos of a state-of-the-art theater. The building itself is 32,000 square feet of space. It opened in 1992 and is an artistic amalgamation of concrete, glass and stone. You can do a photographic essay of the space as it's converted from an indoor theater to an outdoor theater. The building is designed to allow the roof to open up so the night sky becomes your ceiling. The stage area offers many photographic opportunities.
The Mary Kay Museum is also located in Addison. Visiting the Mary Kay Museum is a photographic treat for both make-up enthusiasts and history lovers. The museum will take you through more than 50 years of history and development of the Mary Kay line. Bring your camera on a guided tour, or simply wander the halls yourself photographing models and displays that will walk you through the company's rich history.
