Hotel Safety Issues

When traveling, there should always be basic safety rules to follow, whether it is traveling alone or traveling with children. These rules allow travelers to avoid running into trouble.
  1. Being Prepared

    • Before leaving for a trip, it is important to copy all important documents such as credit cards, airline tickets and hotel reservations. It is also imperative that jewelry, luggage and all other valuables be photographed before the trip for insurance reasons if any of these items come up missing.

    Safe Hotels

    • In selecting the right hotel, it is better to select one with installed modern electronic guest rooms locks. Because the locks are changed after each visit, if a guest's key should be lost, he or she should immediately go to the front desk to have the room re-keyed.

    Room Selection

    • With room selection, the guest must make sure all locks on windows and doors are well secure, check closets to make sure there isn't anyone hiding inside, and select rooms on the 4th and 6th floors for fire safety ladders in case of an emergency.

    Traveling Alone

    • When a female guest is traveling alone, she should be accompanied on the elevator and to her room by a hotel employee. When leaving the room, the television should always be turned on to create the illusion that someone is in the room.

    Traveling with Children

    • Children should not be allowed to play by themselves in the hotel because they are easy to grab and, when alone, are potential prey to predators.
