Listen closely to calls from someone claiming that you have won a free trip to Florida. You should be prepared for trouble if you take the caller up on the offer and travel to Florida.
Arrive at your hotel and find unfit conditions. Your hotel may be dirty, infested with vermin or in an unsafe part of town.
Complain to the person or company responsible for your trip. The person or company will immediately respond by saying that they apologize for the inconvenience and want to help you enjoy your stay. They'll pretend to look for a more suitable hotel and tell you that only one is available. The new hotel will be expensive.
Transfer to the hotel they suggest. To make up for your out-of-pocket expense, the scammer will request that you visit a conference room at the new hotel to speak with an agent and pick up some free vouchers to use on the rest of your trip.
Settle into your new hotel and go to the conference room to pick up your vouchers.
Be forced to sit through presentations and offers for timeshares. Be pressured to invest in the timeshare or give up personal information. The scammers will refuse to give you the almost worthless vouchers until you've witnessed all the presentations or invested in a timeshare. In some cases, the presenters will use intimidation tactics and make it hard for you to leave the room until you invest.
