Women: In the past Palauan women wore only a wraparound skirt, woven from hibiscus-bark fibers dyed with vegetable materials, and a coconut-fiber or plant-fiber bra.
Men: In the past Palauan men wore a wraparound loincloth, woven from dried, beaten, hibiscus bark. Over this, men often wore a finely plaited belt made from palm leaves, and a poncho-like shirt, usually woven from dyed pandanus leaves.
