As of September 2010, TSA safety regulations do not allow soft drink bottles in carry-on luggage. Each traveler may have one quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag filled with bottles of liquid. Each bottle contained in the bag must be 3.4 ounces (100 ml) or less by volume. The bottles may not contain flammable liquids, gels or aerosol paint.
As of September 2010, larger volumes of liquid are permitted in checked baggage. The only restriction on liquids in checked baggage is a prohibition on flammable liquid, gel or aerosol paint. Soft drinks are allowed, as long as they fit in your checked baggage.
As of September 2010, you are permitted to carry on beverages if they were purchased beyond the security checkpoints. Most airports have shops near the gates that sell magazines, food and soft drinks. If you would like to bring a soft drink onto the flight, purchasing a drink at one of these shops is a viable option.
