How to Convert CDT to MST

Convert a time in Central Daylight Time (CDT) to Mountain Standard Time (MST). The United States uses daylight saving time during the summer months, while standard time is in effect from approximately April until November. All time zones change between daylight and standard on the same dates every year, so when it's Mountain Standard Time, it is also Central Standard Time, rather than Central Daylight Time.

Instructions

    • 1

Verify whether the time is a.m. or p.m. If the time appears in 24-hour format -- such as 14:15 -- values between 00:00 and 11:59 represent midnight to 11:59 a.m., while those between 12:00 and 23:59 represent noon until 11:59 p.m.

    • 2

Subtract one hour from the central time to convert it to mountain time. If your central time is 2:15 p.m., for example, it is 1:15 p.m. in mountain time.

    • 3

Convert the daylight time to standard time by subtracting an additional hour from it. 1:15 p.m. MDT is the same as 12:15 p.m. MST.
