How to Convert California Time to Philippine Time

When planning your trip between California and the Philippines, think through the time difference between the two. This enables you to plan an itinerary with an eye to jet lag that ensures plenty of time for rest. You can also maximize your time in-country, whether for business or vacation. Calculating the time difference has other uses as well. Calculating the time in the Philippines assists you in scheduling phone calls or appointments with someone in the Philippines from your base in California.

Things You'll Need

  • Paper
  • Pen or pencil

Instructions

    • 1

Check your watch, computer or phone for the time in California and write it down.

    • 2

Verify whether you operate in Pacific Standard Time, in effect during the winter and fall, or Pacific Daylight Time, in effect during the spring and summer.

    • 3

Add 14 hours to your time in California under Pacific Standard Time using the paper and pen or completing the math on your own. For example, if the time in California is 2:00 p.m., the time in the Phillippines is 4:00 a.m. Add 15 hours to your time under Pacific Daylight time. If the time in California is 2:00 a.m., the time in the Philippines would be 5:00 p.m.

Add one calendar date to accurately reflect the time in the Philippines. For example, if it is July 13 in California, it is July 14 in the Philippines.
