Explore different travel options. The aquarium is accessible by car, bus or train.
Determine your driving route if traveling by car. Navigate into downtown Chicago, then drive onto Lake Shore Drive. Take the 18th Street exit onto Museum Campus Drive. Follow this road around Soldier Field and follow the signs to visitor parking lots. Bring cash to pay for parking, which typically runs between $16 and $19, as of 2011.
Fly into Chicago's O'Hare International Airport to take a train to the Shedd Aquarium. Find the Chicago Transit Authority, or CTA trains. Take the Blue Line train to the Washington station. From there, go to the State Street side and ride the southbound #146 bus to the aquarium stop.
Arrive by bus from any area served by CTA buses, including Midway International Airport. Check the CTA website for routes and schedules (see Resources). Look for the #146 bus, which delivers and picks up aquarium visitors. From Midway, take the CTA bus #6, also called the Jeffery Express, which will drop you across from the aquarium.
