Log in to Google Maps and select "Create a New Map".
Select the Line Tool and choose the option "Draw a Line along Roads." Click on your starting point and then your destination point. Google Maps will automatically draw a line along the roads.
Click on your destination point to see exactly how many miles your trip will be. On your computer's calculator, divide that number by the average speed limit on U.S. interstates and roads. For instance, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, your best bet is to assume that the average speed limit for U.S. interstates will be around 70 MPH. The answer you get from your calculation will be the amount of hours it takes to get from point A to point B.
Divide the number of hours for the entire trip by 24. This new number equals how many days the trip will take. You may have to adjust your timeline a little further depending on where you are going and where you plan on stopping to eat, sleep, or go to the bathroom. If this is the case, then use the marker tool on Google Maps to mark where you will be stopping. Calculate the distance and repeat the formula to get precisely how long it will take to get to each individual stop from the previous one.
Print out the road map you made on Google. Next to the markers write how long it takes to get to each stop from the previous one. Also write down how long you plan on staying at each stop. Plan your trip accordingly.
