How to Make a Zombie Map

Zombies are popular fare for horror fiction writers and filmmakers, and several noted works in print and on screen have left fans wondering what they themselves would do if, in fact, a mass-scale zombie infection occurred. While the thought seems fantastic, preparedness for such an event can be greatly facilitated by creating a detailed zombie map plotting safe houses, weapons caches, food surpluses and supply depots.

Instructions

    • 1

Plot your central location on the map and label it as such, using the ruler to draw a small straight line that you can write on clearly. Use the ruler to lightly draw lines that represent major roads and side streets in your immediate area.

    • 2

Draw any major landmarks in your city that can be used as visual guides for others; for instance, a major public park with identifying structures (statues, fountains, etc.) should be included and labeled accordingly.

    • 3

Plot important survival points on the map like well-stocked, safe houses, ammo dumps and weapon stashes, as well as food and medicine stashes. Label each of these points clearly on the map and create a visual key for each; for example, medicine can be represented with a red cross, universally recognized as the symbol of medicine.

    • 4

Draw a scale to include with your visual key that represents distance from the central point to the various locations. For example, one inch on the map could represent one mile of distance. Draw a basic compass rose in the key that identifies North, South, East and West.

    • 5

Erase any line you may have mistakenly made and retrace the map in black ink to make the print stand out clearer on the page, thus being a little easier to read in the event of an emergency. Laminate the map to prevent any possible water damage that could occur.
