How to Put Together Moving Straps

Moving straps are used to secure heavy objects from shifting during transportation. Ratchet straps are a common form of moving straps, and are a better alternative than regular rope, which may become loose. Firmly secure the strap to the object you are moving and prevent damage to your household items during transit.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the loose end of the moving strap into the ratchet buckle. Place the end of the strap through the slot on the floating locking bar or drum.

    • 2

Center the position of the buckle of the strap on the body of the object being strapped down.

    • 3

Place the hook of one end of the moving strap to a eye loop on the moving truck. This secures the object to the wall of the truck. Place the other hook on the other side of the strap on an eye loop located on the opposite side of the object.

    • 4

Grab the ratchet handle and pump the handle back and forth to ratchet the strap tightly around the object. Ratchet the handle until the strap has tightly secured the object in place.

    • 5

Release the ratchet lock by pulling the release lever located under the buckle of the moving strap. Hold down the release lever and pull on the loose end of the strap to loosen the moving strap.
