Zip the zipper or button the fly on pants. Pack pants that are less likely to wrinkle, such as those made from denim or wrinkle-resistant fabrics. Hold the waistband so the front and back of the pants are even across the waist. Shake the pants gently to help smooth out any creases.
Fold the pants in half lengthwise so the zipper or fly is on the outside of the fold. Pull the corner of the crotch area out so the legs of the pants are even with each other.
Fold the pants over so the waistband and the end of the pants legs are flush with one another. Lay the folded pants on a flat, hard surface.
Hold the waistband and bottom of the pants legs together. Roll the pants down until you reach the fold that is in the knee area of the pants.
Zip or button the fly on pants that are more likely to wrinkle, such as linen or cotton. Fold these pants in half lengthwise one time; do not fold the pants in half at the knee.
Place the folded pants in a plastic garment bag. Smooth out any wrinkles or creases with your hands.
Lay the garment bag with enclosed pants on a flat, hard surface. Stack a folded article of clothing, such as a T-shirt or towel, in the middle of the bag so it is in the middle of the folded pants.
Fold the legs of the pants over the article of clothing. Bring the waist of the pants over the top of the pants legs.
Place the folded pants that are in garment bags in the center of the luggage.
Add any heavy items to the bottom side of the luggage so the weight does not press against the pants.
Position the rolled pants along the sides of the folded pants. Turn the rolls so they are flat along the luggage rather than standing upright on one end.
Use the rolled pants to fill any gaps in the luggage so the items do not shift during transit.
