If you are born in Jerusalem what is your nationality?

It depends on the time of birth and the political control over Jerusalem. Since the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, the city has been divided between Israel and Jordan. East Jerusalem was occupied by Jordan until the Six-Day War in 1967, when Israel captured it and later annexed it. Therefore, people born in Jerusalem during the Jordanian period would be Jordanian nationals, while those born after the Israeli annexation would be Israeli citizens. However, the international community generally does not recognize Israel's annexation of East Jerusalem, and considers East Jerusalem to be part of the occupied Palestinian territories. As such, people born in East Jerusalem after 1967 may also hold Palestinian nationality, depending on their individual circumstances and the policies of the Palestinian Authority.
