How to Renew a Foreign Passport

A passport is a legal document proving that your government has given you permission to travel internationally. Your passport validates your identity and nationality. A passport is not good indefinitely. It has an expiration date of which you must take heed. If your foreign passport has or is about to expire during your travels to the United States, you must promptly renew it. Fortunately, you do not have to send your documents to your native country. You may renew your passport within the United States.
