What documents are needed to do court marriage in Nepal?

Documents Required

1. Valid National Identity cards/passports of both the bride and groom.

* The original and a copy of the cards/passports must be submitted.

2. Birth Certificates of both the bride and groom.

* The original and a copy of the certificates must be submitted.

3. Citizenship Certificate of both the bride and groom.

* The original and a copy of the certificates must be submitted.

4. Single Status Declaration Affidavits from both the bride and groom.

* The affidavits must be attested by a Notary Public.

4. Affidavit of Guardianship from both the bride and groom if they are below 18 years of age.

* The affidavits must be attested by a Notary Public.

5. Consent of Parents if either the bride or groom is below 18 years of age.

* The consent must be in writing and must be attested by a Notary Public.

6. Proof of Address for both the bride and groom. This could include a utility bill, a lease agreement, or a bank statement.

* The original and a copy of the proof of address must be submitted.

7. 2 recent Passport-sized photos of both the bride and groom.

* The photos must be taken within the last 6 months and must be in color.

8. Marriage License Fee:

* NRP. 2000

Additional Documents Required if Either Party is a Foreigner

If either the bride or groom is a foreigner, the following additional documents will also be required:

* A valid passport with a tourist or work visa.

* A certificate of no impediment from the person's home country.

* An affidavit of translation for any documents that are not in English or Nepali.

Important to note:

* All of these documents should not have any errors.

* If the bride or groom is widowed or divorced, they must also provide a certified copy of their marriage or divorce certificate.

* If either of the parties has changed their name, they will also need to submit a certified copy of the name change document.
