In the meantime, you may be eligible to apply for a work permit, called an Employment Authorization Document (EAD). This will allow you to work legally in the United States while your adjustment of status application is pending. However, please note that if your fiancé(e) visa expires before your EAD is approved, you will not be able to work in the United States until you receive your EAD.
