Remove the sides from the knife. Do so by taking another sharp knife, or slotted screwdriver, and sliding it under one end of the knife to force it open. This will pop up one or two pins that are attached to the sides at that end of the knife. Repeat the process at the other end.
Locate the top of the knife. This will be the end that does not have a rivet. Clamp the knife in a vise with the top facing up.
Loosen the pins. You'll need to perform this while still keeping the nails in tact. This can be achieved by using a finish nail. First you must flatten the tip with a hammer before taking the nail and placing it on top of the pin. Tap the other side of the nail lightly with a hammer until the pin comes loose. If you do not need to keep the pins in tact, a power drill will do the job more quickly.
Remove the pins. They should slide right out but if they don't use the screwdriver for leverage.
Take your knife out of the vise. Remove each layer of the knife with your hands.
