Locate your Coleman owner's manual. Review the manual for tips that may help guide you through determining why your lights are not functioning properly. Review all electrical and mechanical warnings that may pertain to safety and assembly. Locate the section that lists manufacturer contact information and phone numbers.
Check your camper power source. Turn on another camper appliance. If the appliance does not have power, check your camper battery. Check connectors to ensure they are secured to the battery. Use a volt meter to determine that your battery is charged.
Turn off the light power switch and remove the light fixture cover. Unscrew the light bulb and examine it closely. If you see black residue on the bulb or hear loose material moving within the bulb it is blown. Locate a new bulb that is the correct size and wattage and install it to the fixture.
Check the light ballast. Look for damage to the cover and side panels. Remove the cover and check for loose or damaged wires. If you observe black residue on the inside of the ballast, it may be a sign of a shortage in the wires. Replace ballast cover once checks are complete to ensure no wiring will be exposed.
Contact the Coleman repairs and service department as the lights may have a defect or internal wiring problems preventing further use of your lights. Continued use of the lights could also spark an electrical fire. Advise the service department of the steps you have taken to troubleshoot the lights and make arrangements for repairs.
