Coleman camper trailers were first manufactured in 1967; by 1979, they had become the best-selling brand of camper trailer in the United States--a position still held in 2010. In 1989, Fleetwood Enterprises, Inc., acquired FTCA, which was still a division of Coleman, adding its camper trailer to the Fleetwood line of recreational vehicles. In 2008, FTCA incorporated, broke off from Fleetwood and restored the Coleman brand name to its camper trailers.
In 2010, there are five lines and 13 models of Coleman camper trailers on the market. Series lines include Highlander (Avalon and Niagara models), Americana (Utah and Bayside models), Americana LE (Sun Valley, Santa Fe and Cheyenne models), Destiny (Limited Edition Westlake, Yuma and Sedona models) and Evolution (E3, E1 and Cobalt models).
Many accessories are available for Coleman camper trailers, making them into multifunctional forms of outdoor recreation. Common accessories include a power lift system, a furnace, an outside shower, a screen room, a bike or boat mount and a bed shelf.
