How to Remove a Rear View Mirror from a 2000 Lincoln LS

Tools and Materials

- Phillips head screwdriver

- Flat head screwdriver

- Pliers

- Small mirror

Instructions

1. Park the car in a safe location, turn off the engine, and engage the parking brake.

2. Locate the rear view mirror on the inside of the windshield.

3. Use the flat head screwdriver to remove the plastic cap from the bottom of the rear view mirror.

4. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to loosen the two screws that are now visible.

5. Once the screws are loose, use the pliers to gently pull the rear view mirror off of the windshield.

6. Be careful not to drop the rear view mirror.

7. Use the small mirror to inspect the windshield for any damage.

8. If there is any damage, repair it before reinstalling the rear view mirror.

9. To reinstall the rear view mirror, simply reverse the steps that you followed to remove it.

Tips

- If you are having difficulty removing the rear view mirror, you may need to apply some penetrating oil to the screws.

- Be careful not to over-tighten the screws when you are reinstalling the rear view mirror.
