Oslo Paper: Writing Paper, Not Drawing Material

Oslo paper is not a drawing material.

It is a high-quality woodfree printing/writing paper—typically 70–100 gsm, bright white, smooth finish—used for:

  • Office documents (letters, reports, forms)
  • Books, manuals, catalogs
  • High-volume laser/inkjet printing
  • Stationery, letterheads

Drawing Papers Are Different

Art papers have specific surfaces (tooth, sizing, weight) for media:

  • Sketch: Light texture, 50–80 gsm.
  • Drawing/Cartridge: Medium tooth, 120–200 gsm.
  • Watercolor: Heavy (300 gsm+), internal/external sizing.
  • Bristol/Bristol Board: Smooth/vellum, 200–400 gsm, multi-ply.
  • Pastel/Charcoal: Pronounced tooth, colored grounds.

Oslo paper lacks the tooth, weight, and sizing for drawing media. It's for printing words, not making marks.
