Book the flight, hotel and rental car together. Discount travel websites such as Expedia, Priceline or Travelzoo offer deep discounts when a vacation package is booked.
Forward you mail to a trusted family member or friend or have the post office hold your mail. Ask a neighbor to take care of your pets or reserve a space at a kennel.
Plan your route in advance. Gather local and state maps. Factor in fuel costs to your overall trip budget.
