Point of Rocks Motel & RV Park is the only lodging option for those wishing to stay within the actual town limits of Potter, Nebraska. As the name suggests, the establishment is a combination motel and RV park. The RV section of the motel is made up of a series of large-sized parking areas with full electric hook-ups. There are no water hook-ups for RVs, but guests do have access to bathhouses equipped with showers. Although most of the site caters to RV-driving guests, there are a handful of guest rooms available, each with standard amenities, such as color television and private bathrooms.
The town of Sidney, with a population just over 6,000, lies approximately 18 miles east of Potter. There are about 10 different lodgings in and around the city, most of which are clumped into two separate areas. The first area, closest to Potter, is in the small city's downtown section and features such chain hotels as America's Best Value Inn and the Magus Hotel-run Fort Sidney Inn. Both offer color television, high-speed Internet and a swimming pool. Farther southwest, near the Lloyd W. Carr Field Airport, is the other cluster of motels, including a Days Inn, Motel 6, and Comfort Inn, all of which provide convenient stays for those arriving by plane.
About 18 miles west of Potter is the town of Kimball, whose population is just over 2,500. Like Sidney, Kimball also has a nearby airport, Kimball Municipal Airport. There are considerably fewer motel choices in town, though, than in Sidney. Downtown Kimball features a Days Inn, which includes standard rooms and an on-site fitness center, while farther south, on the way to the airport, is a Super 8 motel, another chain location, which features flat-screen televisions in each room, as well as the option of a microwave and refrigerator. While pets are allowed at this Super 8, there is a $10 surcharge for each animal. Both locations provide shuttle service to the airport.
Considering the small populations and rural setting, the area isn't overflowing with attractions, but for those who enjoy the links, each town provides convenient access to a golf course. The Prairie Pines course, adjacent to Potter, is nearly as large as the town itself, while both the Four Winds golf course and country club in Kimball, and the Hillside course in Sidney, also provide 18 holes. Most other area attractions can be found in the larger Sidney, including the Fox Theater, the region's lone multiplex, and the Cheyenne County Historical Museum, which features historic information on the region.
