Motels Near Shirley, Massachusetts

Although the northern Massachusetts town of Shirley has a population of under 7,000 people, the village dates back to the early 1700s. Next door is the Fort Devens U.S. Army base and, although it may be hard to find a motel within the city limits of Shirley, there are several choices within a 10-mile radius.
  1. Motel 6

    • Leominster is approximately five miles west of Shirley, just off Route 190. Here, the Motel 6 provides convenient lodging for those visiting the nearby town or Fort Devens. Accommodations at the motel include the typical standard rooms with either queen or full-sized beds, as well as cable television and private bathrooms. There are also a handful of handicap-accessible rooms available. Other amenities include an outdoor pool, on-site laundry and access to high-speed Internet. Children as well as small pets are allowed to stay free of charge at any Motel 6 location.

    Holiday Inn

    • The Holiday Inn in Boxborough, about 10 miles from Shirley, has standard accommodations with cable television and private bathrooms for all guests, but it caters especially to business travelers, with work desks and high-speed Internet in each room. This Holiday Inn also provides an on-site fitness center and indoor pool and has its own bar and grille. The nearby commuter-rail station allows guests easy access to Boston, which is roughly an hour away.

    Super 8

    • Another Leominster accommodation, the Super 8, is a bit farther north than Leominster's Motel 6. The accommodations are similar, except that this Super 8 provides free wireless Internet in all rooms as well as a complimentary "SuperStart" breakfast for each guest. The motel is also larger than the Motel 6, providing its own business meeting center as well as a parking lot equipped to accommodate RVs and large trucks. Shirley is less than a 10-minute drive from the motel; there are a number of colleges within a 25-mile radius, as well as some skiing options, such as the Jericho Hill Ski Area.

    Chocksett Inn

    • Unlike other lodging options around the town of Shirley, the modest Chocksett Inn is not part of a motel chain and, in fact, has more of a feel of a local bed and breakfast. It is located in the town of Sterling, which is about 10 miles southwest of Shirley. There are only 26 rooms in the inn, but all are equipped with cable television, free wireless Internet and private bathrooms. Two suites are available as well, each containing its own kitchen and living area. Breakfast is free at the Chocksett Inn, and the lodging provides space for hosting events, such as birthday parties and wedding receptions.
