Motels in Teller County, Colorado

Although Teller, both in size and population, is one of the smaller counties in Colorado, it's an area that offers grand scenery. Since the 1800s, most visitors to Teller have embarked on adventures, from the early gold-miners to the more recent mountain climbers, kayakers and other outdoors enthusiasts. For those looking to spend the night in Teller County, there are several low-budget options.
  1. The Country Lodge

    • The Country Lodge is located in the heart of Woodland Park, the largest town in Teller County with a little more than 6,000 residents. As with most parts of the county, the surrounding area is covered with the snow-capped Rocky Mountains and miles of dense forest, but this town in particular sits on the summit of what is known as the Ute Pass. Lodging is a privately-owned establishment with a handful of standard rooms that include such amenities as cable television, free wireless Internet and a complimentary breakfast. The "special" guest rooms feature a private whirlpool tub, while the hotel itself also provides an on-site indoor pool and hot tub for use by all guests.

    Cripple Creek Motel

    • Cripple Creek lies about 25 miles south of the larger town of Woodland Park, just on the other side of Mueller State Park. Most visitors to Cripple Creek either participate in one of the numerous outdoor activities, such as hiking, kayaking or skiing, or pay a visit to one of several casinos in town, as low-stakes gambling is legal in the county. One of the few lodgings in town is the aptly titled Cripple Creek Motel, a two-story building with standard guest rooms and weekly rate rooms that include a sofa and fridge. According to the motel's website, a common sight for motel guests is herds of friendly, but wild burros strolling through town.

    Gold King Mountain Inn

    • The Gold King Mountain Inn, another Cripple Creek motel, is one that works in partnership with the town's Wildwood Casino. While most of the attraction is provided by the casino, lodging provides standard guest rooms that include a color television, microwave and mini-fridge. Guests also have the option of staying in one of the "deluxe jackpot rooms," which also include a private whirlpool tub and fireplace. As part of the Wildwood Casino, the Gold King Mountain provides guests with access to varied dining options within the casino, including two restaurants, a bar and a donut shop.

    Rocky Top Motel and Campground

    • For those seeking an even more rustic lodging than those located within the smaller towns of Teller County, the Rocky Top Motel and Campground is certainly one option. The establishment is located in the wilderness about six miles south of Woodland Park and, as its name suggests, is both a motel and campground. The motel part includes 15 guest rooms, all with satellite television, a microwave and a coffeemaker, with additional amenities, such as blow dryers and irons, available upon request. The rooms vary in size with the largest sleeping up to six people. There are sites for RV campers as well, with both water and electricity hook-ups.
