Purchase an airline ticket to the Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, Panama.
Present a passport upon landing that is valid for at least 3 months.
Purchase a tourist card before clearing customs or present a renewed multiple entry visa obtained at a Panamanian consulate or embassy. A tourist card is all that is required for Canadian and US citizens so they only need a valid passport. See Learn4Good in references for countries that require a visa. To obtain a visa in Panama travelers must have a passport valid for six months, 2 completed application forms, 2 passport-size photos and a booking reservation. Some countries require additional authorization including a copy of an onward or return ticket, a letter from a Panamanian sponsor and proof of financial stability in the form of a bank statement or traveler'[s checks.
Pass through Panamanian customs, retrieve your bag and exit the airport into Panama City, Panama. For a list of customs regulations, see Resources.
Proceed to the Pacific or Atlantic Panamanian Immigration Office from the highway.
Obtain a numbered piece of paper and take that to the window designated for purchasing a tourist card.
Purchase a stamp at the stamp window.
Return to the original Immigration and Tourism window and present the documents along with your passport. You may be asked to present a return ticket or a certain amount of cash.
Have your luggage reviewed by customs officials after receiving your entry stamp. Proceed via car or bus to Panama City.
