Nutley, New Jersey, a suburb of Newark, has one of the highest concentrations of Italian-Americans in the U.S. It was voted one of the Top 40 best New Jersey cities in which to live by New Jersey Monthly Magazine. Queen Margherita
- Queen Margherita (formerly Regina Margherita) was opened by two brothers from Naples, Italy, who began cooking as very young boys and decided to share their love of Italian food with others. Start with hot or cold antipasti ($9 to $12) like fried artichokes or clams Areganata, before deciding on entrée items like pasta ($12 to $18), steaks, chops or veal ($15 to $19), seafood ($17 to $19), paninis or something from the pizza menu. Queen Margherita offers daily specials, and the owners recently opened the Aromi Di Napoli bakery, which provides fresh Italian breads and pastries to the restaurant.

Farm2Bistro
- What distinguishes the Farm2Bistro is its effort to serve local produce, dairy and meats, straight from the farm whenever possible; the eatery also allows local pastry chefs to strut their stuff. Lunch ($7 to $12) features sandwiches, wraps, burgers, Tex-Mex items, soups and salads with the occasional unique twist, such as the curried vegetable burrito. The dinner menu ($12 to $19) is more adventurous, offering sunflower or pumpkin crusted chicken, braised short ribs, seared ahi tuna, roast Cornish game hen and a nightly vegetarian special, among several other selections and sides. The dessert menu features fresh pies, cakes and sundaes, and there is a children's menu. An all-you-can-eat Sunday brunch ($15) runs from 9 a.m. to 2 .pm. Farm2Bistro is a BYOB establishment, so feel free to bring your favorite adult beverage.

Franklin Steakhouse & Tavern
- If you're in the mood for steak, the Franklin Steakhouse & Tavern is a favored Nutley destination for beef lovers. The lunch menu features more than 30 black Angus burgers, sandwiches and wraps ($6 to $11). Dinner starts with a rotating menu of soups by night, many appetizers ($8 to $13), side and entrée salads ($6 to $14), close to 40 traditional and specialty burgers, sandwiches and wraps ($7 to $11) and more than 20 entrees, featuring seafood, pastas, ribs and steaks ($13 to $31).
