Arrive at the airport at least two hours before your flight is scheduled to depart. Add another thirty minutes to an hour for international flights. Checking in for your flight, checking luggage as well as going through security can be time consuming. You want to give yourself enough time to get to your gate and wait times vary from airport to airport.

Locate the self-service kiosks inside your airline’s departure terminal. Make sure you are in your correct flight class; either domestic or international, first class or main cabin. Signs are displayed to direct you to the appropriate check-in locations. Customer service agents are also able to assist you.

Touch the screen to begin. The computer will ask you to choose what method you want to use to retrieve your reservation. Three options are available. Enter your record locator number, frequent flyer number or insert a credit card in order to pull up the correct flight information. The computer will verify your identity, after which you will see your name pop up on the screen as the details of your trip appear.

    • 4

Verify that all the flight details are correct, double check your flight numbers, departure and arrival times and note your gate location information. If you find any incorrect information ask for assistance immediately before proceeding. The computer will ask you to confirm the details; do so by touching the corresponding key.

Touch the button to select your seat assignments. A screen will pop up giving you an image of your aircraft and will also display the interior of the aircraft with available and unavailable seating. Touch the button of the seat you would like to select. Depending on whether you made the reservation online, your seats might have been selected for you. If this is the case, you can choose to change them or keep them the same.

Indicate whether or not you will be checking any luggage. Additional fees now apply for checked baggage. Complete the appropriate screens for luggage or bypass this step by touching the continue button. Hit the "Print boarding pass" tab to complete your check-in and receive your boarding pass. Your boarding pass will print out and can be retrieved at the bottom of the kiosk inside the tray provided. Receipts and any other correspondence will print along with it.
