Travel agencies that supply standard vacation packages realize that their customers desire a certain level of quality and service when booking a vacation package. Thus, they take on the responsibility of ensuring that a high standard is met by the airlines, hotel and tour guides. If a customer decides to create a dynamic travel package, there is no guarantee of a high standard by the individual service providers.
With standard vacation packages, the travel agency will file and pursue all complaints that a customer may have with the service provided by the airlines or hotel. With dynamic packaging, the customer must file and pursue complaints alone. This can be hassle if the complaint involves receiving a monetary reimbursement from an international airlines or hotel, since it will involve dealing with the laws and regulations of a foreign country.
With dynamic packaging, the customer has less protection if anything should go wrong with his travel plans. By choosing a standard package, the travel agency must inform the customer and set up alternative arrangements if a problem with the flight, accommodations or tour guide arises. This protection against possible misfortune in travel plans is not available if the customer chooses to go with dynamic packaging.
With standard vacation packages, a customer can ask for a refund for the entire trip cost from the travel agency alone. This will involve dealing with only the rules and regulations for that specific travel agency. However, with dynamic packaging, the customer will must request a refund from each service provider. Each service provider will have its own rules and regulations regarding refunds. Thus, it can be time consuming and customers may end up losing some of the money.
