Fare Alert is a new tool from Expedia that tracks flight and hotel deals. You can download Expedia Fare Alert on your desktop, then a small window notifies you whenever price matches have been found. Click the link to Fare Alert from the Expedia website to download and use the price search tool on your computer.
Verify your computer's system requirements before downloading Expedia Fare Alert. Note that the tool only works if you have Windows XP.
Open Fare Alert from your desktop. Enter your departure and destination airports by using the drop-down fields on the Fare Alert window.
Enter your price in the next field. This is helpful so that this Expedia tool can alert you on your desktop when fares become available that are equal to or lower than your price.
Choose how often you want Fare Alert to search for cheap prices. By default, Fare Alert tracks rates every 2 hours. Next, check the box if you want Fare Alert to start upon launching Windows.
Wait for the Expedia Fare Alert window to pop up on your desktop whenever it tracks a price deal based on your settings above. Click the price links for the flight rate or the flight and hotel rate for more information. An Expedia page will open so that you can choose a departure and return date. Follow the steps on the page for checking flight availability and for buying tickets online.
Change your settings whenever you're ready by following Steps 2, 3 and 4. Select a new departure and destination, then allow Fare Alert to track more flight and hotel deals.
