Luggage Restrictions for Delta

Luggage restrictions for passengers flying on Delta Airlines vary from flight to flight. Whether you are checking bags or carrying them on, it is important to be aware of restrictions concerning baggage count and size.
  1. Checked baggage

    • Delta charges economy travelers within the United States, Canada, U.S. Virgin Islands and/or Puerto Rico $25 for the first checked bag and $35 for the second ($23 and $32 if checked online).

For travel between to Mexico, Aruba, Bahamas, Bermuda, Cayman Islands and Europe there is no fee for the first checked bag. Fees for the second depend on the flight.

First and Business Class passengers on all flights may check up to three bags up to 70 lbs each at no charge. Special items including sports equipment, musical instruments, pets, over-sized bags and assistive devices such as wheelchairs that are checked count as one bag.

    Checked Baggage Restrictions

    • Economy checked baggage must weigh 50 lbs. or less and its combined length, width and height must measure 62 inches or less. Excess baggage fees may apply if you check more than two bags or if your checked bags exceed Delta's size & weight restrictions

    Carry-On Restrictions

    • Passengers are allowed to bring one carry-on bag and one personal item on board with them. Carry-on bags cannot exceed 45 linear inches. If your carry-on bag doesn't meet these size restrictions it must be checked, and all checked baggage rules will apply.
