How much money do tourists spend on transport in the UK?
In 2019, international tourists spent an estimated £21.9 billion on transport in the UK. This includes spending on airfares, train tickets, bus fares, car hire, and other forms of transport. Air travel accounted for the largest share of transport spending, with international tourists spending an estimated £14.6 billion on flights to and from the UK. This was followed by train travel, with international tourists spending an estimated £3.8 billion on rail tickets. Car hire accounted for an estimated £2.1 billion of spending, while other forms of transport, such as buses and taxis, accounted for an estimated £1.4 billion.
