Once you have held your learner's permit for at least six months, you can apply for a driver's license by taking and passing a written test, a vision test, and a driving test. If you pass all of these tests, you will be issued a driver's license that allows you to drive alone.
However, there are some restrictions on your driver's license for the first year after you receive it. For example, you cannot drive between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. unless you are accompanied by a licensed driver who is at least 25 years old. You also cannot transport any passengers under the age of 20 unless you are accompanied by a licensed driver who is at least 25 years old.
These restrictions are in place to help new drivers gain experience and develop safe driving habits. After one year, the restrictions will be removed and you will be able to drive unsupervised at any time.
