How do you set the timing on a 1979 Lincoln mark v?

To set the timing on a 1979 Lincoln Mark V, follow these steps:

1. Gather the necessary tools. You will need a timing light, a wrench, and a screwdriver.

2. Locate the timing marks. On the 1979 Lincoln Mark V, the timing marks are located on the front of the engine block, near the crankshaft. There is a small metal tab with a notch in it, which is the timing mark for the ignition timing. The other timing mark is a small hole in the harmonic balancer, which is the timing mark for the engine's top dead center (TDC).

3. Start the engine and allow it to warm up to operating temperature.

4. Connect the timing light to the battery and the spark plug wire of the number 1 cylinder.

5. Point the timing light at the timing marks on the engine block.

6. Turn the distributor until the timing mark on the harmonic balancer aligns with the notch in the metal tab on the engine block.

7. Tighten the distributor hold-down bolt.

8. Turn off the engine and disconnect the timing light.

The timing is now set on your 1979 Lincoln Mark V.
