How to Count the Turns in the Tail of the Dragon
"The Tail of the Dragon" is an 11-mile road on the border of Tennessee and North Carolina. This road has many turns and curves as it goes through the mountains. When driving through the Tail of the Dragon, look out for bears, deer and other wild animals. This road is located along some of the most dense and diverse wilderness in the U.S.

Drive out to U.S. Route 129 at the Tennessee-North Carolina state line to Deal's Gap. This marks the beginning of the Tail of the Dragon.

Drive down the road carefully, obeying the posted speed limit. Watch your trip meter so you can mark when the 11 miles have passed.

Count every time the car goes around a turn. The Tail of the Dragon has hundreds of turns, so be ready to count a lot of turns.
